E85 Bike Build

Chopper College, in partnership with Minnesota State University – Mankato, successfully developed an engine and carburetor that successfully and efficiently runs on E85 gasoline (85% ethanol; 15% gasoline mixture).

E85 eliminates greenhouse gas emissions by 17-23% and reduces petroleum usage/dependency by more than 70%.  Ethanol has become a major topic of discussion globally as nations look to diminish their reliance on petroleum while decreasing harmful greenhouse gas emissions additionally.

If you'd like to make the switch to E85 or purchase a Chopper College Custom with E85 technology, contact us for further details.

EcoCycle™ Prototype

Chopper College partnered with Composites Innovation Center (CIC) of Manitoba to create a commercial-scale, eco-friendly motorcycle; powered by bio-fuels and enhanced with bio-composite parts developed by CIC.

The engine will utilize the technology developed in collaboration with Minnesota State University - Mankato to operate on E85.  The motorcycle will also contain a gas tank and fender made from hybrid fiber-glass/bio-composite materials.  The materials used are industrial grade hemp that are grown and farmed locally in Manitoba.  This is the world's first use of bio-composite materials for the gas tank components of an eco-friendly, E-85 vehicle. Infusion friendly, the bio-composite employs traditional manufacturing techniques with only slightly modified processing, delivering superior fiber-to-resin ratios for integrity and toughness.  The tank and fender are lightweight and corrosion resistant with adaptable styling features only composite materials can deliver.  The prototype motorcycle will be unveiled at the Bio International Convention, the world’s largest bio convention, in Washington, D.C. in June of 2011.

If you're interested in applying E85 technology or bio-composite materials to your motorcycle or to inquire about ordering your own custom EcoCycle™, contact us for further details.
