Sheet Metal Fabrication and Welding Boot Camp

Learn how to roll, bend, shape, form, and weld sheet metal with certified and experienced Chopper College fabricators.  In this class, students learn the basic chemistries and mathematical equations necessary before beginning any project.  Once the basics have been implemented, students will learn to use various tools such as a planishing hammer, English wheel, metal brake, tube bender, and more.  In addition, students will learn and implement proper welding techniques using MIG welding theories from a certified MIG welder.  Each student will demonstrate their new knowledge with an in-class project they can take home.

After taking this course, should will be able to:

• Describe sheet metal terms and definitions
• Understand metal composition and grades
• Explain basic math and measuring as it relates to sheet metal fabrication
• Demonstrate proper use of various tools such as a metal brake, English wheel, planishing hammer, hammer and dolly sets, metal shrinker/stretcher, tube bender, shears, and much more
• Describe basic welding theories and definitions
• Understand weld types and applications
• Demonstrate proper MIG welding technique

In addition to hands-on instruction, students receive a course manual to take home for future reference.  Safety glasses and gloves are provided as well as lunch daily.  If you're passionate about bikes, you don't want to miss out on this class.

The Sheet Metal Fabrication and Welding Boot Camp is offered at Chopper College in partnership with Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
