About Chopper College

History of Chopper College

Chopper College was created in Chicago in 2006 as the first motorcycle school, globally, to offer custom bike building, fabrication, and engine courses in a boot camp style.  The company was developed in response to a growing desire by motorcycle enthusiasts and professionals to gain the knowledge and skill necessary to work on, customize, or build their own motorcycles.

After a great deal of success, Chopper College was selected by Allstate Insurance to act as the first national spokes model for Allstate motorcycle insurance during an aggressive market blitz that spanned 2007 and 2008.  The partnership entailed a two-year national tour around the US with stops at various rallies and events.  At each stop, Chopper College offered abbreviated bike building and modification courses in the “Mobile Garage” while continuing to offer complete courses at home in Chicago.

In 2009, Chopper College expanded to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area after recognizing a new and untapped niche in the market.  The new plan included a revision of the company’s mission and vision to contain a greater focus on research and development of green technologies as well as a long term plan for national and international commercialization of these next generation products.

The new plan continues to hold true to where the company began by including the courses that made Chopper College what it is today, but also includes a plan to expand course offerings that are a bi-product of commercialized next-generation green technologies.

In 2010, the new plan became reality with Chopper College partnering with the Center for Automotive Research at Minnesota State University – Mankato and Composites Innovation Centre in Winnipeg to produce the world’s first motorcycle that runs on bio-fuel (ethanol) and has components made from bio-fiber (hemp) based composite materials.
